Don't let your cravings stop you!

  1. Write down what triggers you and how you can prevent that trigger. For example, if you know your trigger is food videos on Youtube or Instagram, you could try to go without social media until your fasting period is over.

  2. Try eating filling meals before and after eating your fasting period.

  3. Exercise might subdue your urges. Two small studies found that reward centers in the brain were stimulated less than usual by pictures of high-calorie foods following exercise. For our long fasters, it might be best to stick to moderate or low intensity workouts such as dancing, gardening, walking at a brisk pace, or bicycling slowly.

  4. Try drinking more water. Sometimes we can mistake our body’s need for water for a need for food.
